Progressive lawmakers oppose deployment of US troops in Israel
The Pentagon confirmed on Sunday that it had authorized the deployment of approximately 100 US troops to Israel.
This comes as Israel prepares to attack Iran.
It is not clear when the US troops are set to arrive in Israel.
The U.S. currently has roughly 40,000 soldiers stationed across the Middle East.
Progressive representatives Pramila Jayapal, Barbara Lee, James McGovern, and Greg Casar said “military force will not solve the challenge posed by Iran.”
The Democratic lawmakers called for “meaningful de-escalation and diplomacy” adding that the US risks becoming entangled in another catastrophic war that will inevitably harm innocent civilians and may cost billions of US taxpayer dollars.
