Police arrest man for vandalism at Rutgers Islamic Center
Twenty-four-year-old Jacob Beacher has been arrested for a hate crime at Rutgers University’s Center for Islamic Life.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey announced that he allegedly broke in and destroyed property, including sacred items during Eid celebrations.
He also stole a Palestinian flag and a donation box.
The incident occurred on April 10 during the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of the month of Ramadan.
Beacher, who is not affiliated with the university, has been charged with obstruction of religious worship and making false statements to federal authorities.
