PKK member allegedly responsible for Ankara attack identified
ANKARA (AA) – One of the two suspects allegedly responsible for Sunday’s attack in the Turkish capital Ankara has been identified, the Turkish Interior Ministry said on Monday.
PKK member Hasan Oguz, codenamed Kanivar Erdal, was identified as a result of research and DNA analysis, the ministry said in a statement.
Efforts and investigations to identify the other attacker continue, it added.
At 9.30 a.m. local time on Sunday, a suicide bomber had blown himself up in front of the General Directorate of Security.
Two police officers suffered minor injuries, while the other attacker was killed by security forces at the entrance.
The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) that struggles for an independent Kurdish state is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkiye. PKK members are often implicated in terrorist incidents in Turkiye.
