Philadelphia woman cooks affordable halal food for American Muslim families
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – A West Philadelphia woman has made it her mission to serve frozen halal meals for American Muslim families.
Lavaughn Jones not only provides halal meat but also makes sure it remains affordable for working families.
Her business partner, Danieltta Pantoe, said that of all frozen meals, only 5% are halal.
As a result, Muslim families had difficulty finding meals that met their religious beliefs.
Jones had converted to Islam in her 20s.
She, too, found it difficult to find halal meals for her two children.
Her kitchen now makes it easy for single parents and busy mothers to buy delicious halal meals for their children.
Her halal meals have been available in the frozen food section of 10 grocery stores since April.
