Palestinians Object To France’s Position On Jerusalem
Palestinians rallied in the Gaza Strip Monday protesting statements by French Premier Jean Castex declaring Jerusalem as “the eternal capital of the Jewish people.”
Castex spoke Friday during a gala dinner hosted by the Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions.
Palestinian protesters in response waved a banner reading, “Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Palestine,” during Monday’s rally in the western city of Khan Younis.
Jerusalem is at the heart of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Palestinians are hopeful that occupied East Jerusalem may eventually become the capital of a future Palestinian state.
