Palestinians Hail Kuwaiti Walkout from Bahraini Event over Israel’s Presence
GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – Palestinian groups on Saturday hailed the walkout of a Kuwaiti delegation from a conference in Bahrain because of Tel Aviv University.
In a statement, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said the Kuwaiti position reflects the Gulf state’s support to the Palestinian people.
“This position shows Kuwait’s continuing support to the right of the Palestinian people to regain their land and holy sites,” he added.
Islamic Jihad movement said the Kuwait walkout shows that the Gulf state “rejects all forms of normalization.”
On Friday, the Kuwaiti-based Youths For Jerusalem League said on Twitter that a delegation representing Kuwaiti universities withdrew from a lecture due to the participation of an Israeli delegation in the conference held in Bahrain.
Bahrain along with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sudan, and Morocco signed US-sponsored agreements to normalize relations with Israel in 2020. The normalization agreements were decried by the Palestinians as a “betrayal” of their cause.
