Palestinian president arrives in Egypt
RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Cairo on Monday for talks with Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.
The visit “comes as part of joint coordination between the Palestinian and Egyptian leaderships,” Ambassador Dia al-Louh said in statements cited by the state news agency Wafa.
The two leaders will meet in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss developments in the Palestinian territories, according to Egyptian media.
The visit comes a few weeks after Egypt managed to broker a cease-fire between Palestinian Islamic Jihad group and Israel that brought a three-day Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip to a halt.
At least 49 Palestinians were killed and hundreds injured in the onslaught, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
