Palestinian PM Shtayyeh says UNRWA freeze aimed to ‘disrupt ICJ decision’
RAMALLAH – AFP
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh says that Israel’s war on UNRWA is “not new” and that it aims to “disrupt the decision of the ICJ”.
“Israel’s war on UNRWA is not new, and it is working to liquidate the agency’s role because of its connection to the refugee issue and the right of return,” he said during a press conference here on Sunday.
“Therefore, Israel is carrying out an organized attack on various refugee camps in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in Jenin, Tulkarm, Nur Shams, Balatah,” he added.
“Freezing aid to the agency comes in order to disrupt the decision of the International Court of Justice to bring aid into Gaza, and this freeze will lead to devastating effects on Gaza.”
