Palestinian killed by Israeli fire in West Bank raid
RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – A Palestinian youth was killed by Israeli army fire during a raid in the occupied West Bank early Wednesday, according to the state news agency Wafa.
Ahmed Mohamed Masad, 21, was shot in the head and died of his wounds in the town of Burqin, northwest of Jenin, Jani Abu Jokha, the director of Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin, told Wafa.
He said three other Palestinians were injured by Israeli army fire.
Israeli forces raided a number of houses in the Jenin refugee camp, triggering clashes with angry Palestinian residents, Wafa said.
According to the news agency, six Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces during the raid.
Islamic Jihad group confirmed that Masad was a group member.
Tensions have been running high across the Palestinian territories since the beginning of April amid repeated Israeli arrest campaigns in the occupied West Bank and daily settler incursions into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in East Jerusalem.
