More than 1,538 Israelis killed in Gaza war since Oct. 7: Report
JERUSALEM (AA) – More than 1,538 Israelis have been killed since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7, the public broadcaster KAN has said.
KAN said 823 bodies have so far been identified and 715 have already been buried.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari had said that the military deaths in the Gaza war had reached 311.
According to the Israeli Health Ministry, 5,431 Israelis have also been injured in the conflict.
Israel launched a campaign of aerial bombardment of the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Palestinian resistance group Hamas into Israeli territory on October 7.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 8,005 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli offensive, including 3,342 children, 2,062 women, and 460 elderly people.
Gaza’s 2.3 million residents are grappling with shortages of food, water, fuel and medicine due to Israel’s blockade of the enclave.
The casualties on the Palestinian side, mostly civilians, far outnumber the Israeli victims in this deadly conflagration.
