Over 100k people sign petition to impeach Trump again
Despite just being a few days in office, President Donald Trump faces a petition signed by more than 100,000 people calling for his impeachment.
The campaign, led by the nonprofit Free Speech for People, urges Congress to launch an impeachment inquiry.
The group led a similar campaign when Trump took office in 2017.
Organizers say the petition reflects “widespread support” for holding Trump accountable.
They accuse him of violating the U.S. Constitution’s emoluments clauses, pardoning Jan. 6, 2021 insurrectionists, and engaging in corrupt campaign practices.
The group’s petition also demands Trump divest from his business empire, which includes real estate, social media, and cryptocurrency.
Campaign director Alexandra Flores-Quilty says Americans won’t accept “King Trump” and calls for bold action from Congress.
Trump, who was impeached twice in his first term but acquitted by the Senate, now faces renewed pressure.
However, both chambers of Congress are now under Republican control.
