Online Store Takes Down Swimwear With Quranic Verses
Online apparel seller The Playmate Stores had been selling pajamas and swimwear for women with verses of the Quran on them.
Singapore news website AsiaOne reports that this was first noticed by TikTok user Abu Toz, an American Muslim.
In his June 19 video on the social media platform, Abu Toz showed listings such as “Islamic Cami Pajama Set” and others showing several types of one-piece swimwear.
In a caption, he urged something must be done about the Singapore-based store selling items that use “Quran prints on bikinis” and disrespecting Islam.
The store is using a Singapore address on its website while its Facebook page says the business is based in the U.S.
After being called out, the Playmate Stores issued an apology saying it has removed “all products regarding Muslims” from the website.
