Oman launches platform to drive green hydrogen ecosystem readiness
Strategic initiative to enhance collaboration, streamline execution, and position Oman as a global hydrogen leader
MUSCAT, Oman (MNTV) – Oman has introduced ‘gHad,’ an innovative digital platform aimed at accelerating the development of the country’s green hydrogen sector.
Developed under the leadership of Hydrom, the platform is designed to monitor progress, facilitate collaboration, and provide real-time, data-driven insights into Oman’s hydrogen initiatives, according to Muscat Daily.
The Green Hydrogen Ecosystem Readiness Steering Committee is led by Energy Minister and Hydrom Chairman Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi.
The launch of ‘gHad’ builds on the outcomes of the 2024 Ecosystem Readiness Lab, which identified 26 key initiatives to support Oman’s goal of becoming a major green hydrogen producer by 2030.
The platform will help transition the national hydrogen strategy from planning to structured execution, focusing on five key pillars: permitting processes, contractor readiness, workforce development, logistics, and local content.
A roadmap for green hydrogen growth
Eng. Abdulaziz Said Al Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrom, underscored the importance of ‘gHad’ in ensuring a well-coordinated approach to Oman’s hydrogen ambitions.
He stated that ‘gHad’ will be a central hub, uniting public and private stakeholders, including government, infrastructure, education, industry, and regulators.
As the national orchestrator of Oman’s green hydrogen vision, Hydrom is responsible for structuring large-scale projects, managing developer allocations, and facilitating the development of shared infrastructure and supporting ecosystems.
Through its initiatives, Hydrom is driving In-Country Value (ICV) by generating employment opportunities, expanding educational programs, and fostering localized supply chains.
These efforts not only bolster Oman’s hydrogen sector but also create adjacent opportunities within the broader clean energy landscape.
With ‘gHad’ at the core of its strategy, Oman is reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable, innovation-driven economy while positioning itself among the leading global players in the green hydrogen industry.
