OIC, Indonesia to help promote sports in Afghanistan
KABUL, Afghanistan (MNTV) — The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Indonesian embassy in Kabul have pledged support for the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) in strengthening sports development in the country.
OIC Deputy Representative Khalil Ibrahim Oukor and Indonesia’s Deputy Ambassador Ricky Subagja met with AFF President Mohammad Yusuf Kargar and leadership members of the Afghanistan National Olympic Committee (ANOC) on Sunday.
During the meeting, Kargar welcomed the officials and provided an overview of sports development in Afghanistan. He urged Islamic nations to collaborate with the AFF to further promote athletics in the country.
Oukor praised Afghanistan’s ongoing efforts to expand sports opportunities and reiterated OIC’s commitment to full cooperation. Subagja reaffirmed Indonesia’s continued support in advancing Afghanistan’s sports sector.
As a token of appreciation, Afghan sports officials presented the guests with the national football team jersey and emblem.
The meeting comes as Afghanistan’s national team competes in the AFC Beach Soccer Championship in Thailand. The team is also set to face Myanmar in the qualifiers for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
