Number of Indonesian students in Sweden soars
Ambassador highlights growing interest amid 75 years of bilateral ties
JAKARTA, Indonesia (MNTV) – The number of Indonesian students pursuing higher education in Sweden has seen a dramatic increase, with over 900 accepted by Swedish universities in 2025.
This marks a significant jump from just 160 students the previous year, as reported by Tempo.co.
“This year, we are celebrating 75 years of bilateral relations between our two countries, and I am pleased to see many Indonesian students eager to study in Sweden,” said Sweden’s ambassador to Indonesia, Daniel Blockert.
To further strengthen educational and professional ties, the Swedish Embassy hosted the Join Sweden-Study & Career Fair on April 12.
The event connected Indonesian students and professionals with leading Swedish universities and multinational companies, offering insights into academic and career opportunities.
Top institutions such as Chalmers University of Technology, Lund University, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH Royal), Stockholm University, and Uppsala University participated in the fair.
Representatives from global companies including Epiroc, Ericsson, Scania, and Volvo Cars were also present to discuss career pathways.
The event featured a talk show with members of the Indonesian Student Association in Sweden, professionals who have built careers in Sweden, and corporate representatives, providing attendees with practical advice and inspiration.
The surge in student interest highlights the growing appeal of Sweden’s high-quality education and opportunities for international students, further enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
