‘No cover up’ by White House over Biden’s condition: spokeswoman
Washington, United States – AFP
The White House denied Wednesday that it had covered up any possible decline in President Joe Biden’s health prior to his decision to drop out of the election race.
“It is not a cover up. I know that is the narrative that you all want. It is not,” Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told a briefing.
It is “ridiculous” to suggest that Joe Biden must now resign the presidency because he has dropped out of the White House race, she added.
“Any suggestion of that note is ridiculous, it is not what we believe,” Pierre said, adding that Biden’s decision has “nothing to do with his health.”
Biden not a ‘lame duck’ president
Biden is not a “lame duck” despite his decision to drop out of the White House race and serve only one term, the spokeswoman said.
“He wants to build on what we’ve been able to do… We don’t see ourselves as a lame duck president at all. At all,” she said.
