National Press Club urges Israel to restore AP reporting from Gaza
The National Press Club, the largest organization for journalists in the US, has urged Israel to restore The Associated Press’ equipment and live feed in Gaza.
Israel earlier confiscated the New York-based news agency’s broadcast equipment and shut down its live feed into Gaza.
Press Club President Emily Wilkins has asked Israel to reverse course and restore the AP’s equipment and live feed.
She described the move as a part of a pattern of aggression against journalism organizations by Israel.
Wilkins added that AP’s video is the main visual source of news for media worldwide.
Israel has accused the news organization of violating a new media law by providing images to Al Jazeera.
But the Associated Press condemned Israel’s seizure as an “abusive use” of the country’s new foreign broadcaster law amid Israel’s attack on Gaza.
