On this holy night, Muslims pray and recite the Holy Quran in their homes and mosques.
In addition to the prayers, they also listen to hymns praising God and His Prophet.
Around the world, several activities, concerts, exhibitions, and religious programs are also organized on this day.
Muslims around the world celebrate the 12th Rabi-Ul-Awwal, the Islamic month although the day varies from country to country depending on the lunar calendar.
The Prophet died on the day he was born, at the age of 63.
The day is a public vacation in several Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and in India also.
People gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad in Baghdad, Iraq on Tuesday.
