Muslim Girls Heckled As Hijab Is Ban In Indian Classrooms
A video showing a hijab-wearing Muslim student being heckled by a Hindu far-right mob in the state of Karnataka has caused outrage in India.
Muskan Khan was surrounded by men wearing saffron scarves as she arrived at her college in the city of Mandya.
Khan said that as she confronted the protestors, she found that many of them were outsiders.
The incident comes amid intensifying protests over a ban on hijab in schools in the southern Indian state.
Students at a government-run high school were told last month not to wear hijabs.
The ban soon spread to other educational institutions in the state.
