Mosque In Virginia Vandalized For Second Time In 6 Months
A Virginia mosque has been vandalized for the second time in six months.
Authorities said the West End Islamic Center in Glen Allen, a northern suburb of the capital Richmond, was targeted by vandals Saturday afternoon.
Police said the damage includes a smashed window, overturned tables and chairs, and graffiti.
Ibrahim Hooper, national communications director for the Council on American Islamic Relations, called on law enforcement agencies to take the crime seriously.
He told Anadolu Agency the previous act of vandalism happened in the fall.
It also included physical damage to the mosque and graffiti.
Hooper said it is more concerning that this latest vandalism occurred during the holy month of Ramadan.
