A mosque in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol (MARY OOPAL) remains intact amid clashes in and around the city, the head of the mosque association said Saturday.
Ismail Hacioglu, (HAJI OGHLU) who heads the association of Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Mosque, said the Russian army has surrounded the city and has been shooting at the city center.
He said civilians who are stranded in the city need essential goods, including water and food.
A rocket fell Friday around the mosque area, which currently houses 30 Turkish nationals, he said.
Earlier Ukraine had claimed the mosques had been bombed.
