Moroccans celebrate national team’s victory over Spain
ANKARA (AA) – Moroccans took to the streets to celebrate their team’s victory over Spain in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match Tuesday night.
Morocco qualified for the quarterfinals after beating Spain 3-0 on penalties.
Thousands of Moroccans took to the streets in the capital Rabat and different cities across the country, including Casablanca, Marrakesh, Fes, and Agadir, celebrating the national team’s victory over Spain.
Moroccan fans who came to the Qatari capital Doha to support their national team organized victory celebrations, chanting for their squad and singing the national anthem.
Neither team was able to break the deadlock for the first 45 minutes at Doha’s Education City Stadium.
Despite several efforts from both sides in the second half, neither team was able to produce a goal. The same happened in extra time, so the penalty shootout decided the winning team.
Morocco will face Portugal in quarter-finals.
