Mauritania launches regional workshops promoting cultural diversity
NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania (MNTV) – Government of North African state of Mauritania has launched a series of collaborative regional workshops to promote culture and arts in the country and enable cultural diversity at the state level.
The workshops aim to support local cultural initiatives and promote belonging through the establishment of specialized museums, providing spaces for dialogue for cultural creativity and social development.
The event was organized by the National Museums Office, in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for Cooperation and presided over by the minister of culture, arts and communication of Mauritania, the ministry website posted.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Culture said, “Today we live in an increasingly diverse and intertwined world in which culture represents the bridge that connects the various components of society. We must promote the values of mutual understanding and respect, as it is not only a legacy of the past but a strong starting point for building the future.”
He added that President Ould Cheikh El Ghazwani had strongly urged the public authorities to do their utmost to promote the country’s cultural diversity as a way to strengthen the bonds of national cohesion in Mauritania.
The project promises to empower local artists and artisans and showcase Mauritania’s rich and diverse cultural landscape to the rest of the world.
