Man who attacked police during Jan. 6 Capitol riot gets 20 years in jail
A California man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for participating in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
It is one of the longest sentences given in connection with the violent incident.
A statement on Friday by the US Capitol Police noted David Nicholas Dempsey had pleaded guilty in January to two counts of “assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers with a deadly weapon.”
Dempsey led assaults on multiple officers protecting the Capitol that day.
