Man, 3 sons arrested for killing Syrian boy in Lebanon
BEIRUT (AA) – A father and his three sons have been arrested in Lebanon over the death of a teenage Syrian boy, state media reported on Thursday.
All four are Lebanese nationals and were arrested in Sarafand, a town in the southern Sidon region, according to the official National News Agency.
The 14-year-old Syrian boy, whose name has not been released, suffered fatal injuries after being attacked by the four suspects in Sarafand on Tuesday.
An investigation is underway, the report said, without giving further details.
There are approximately 1.5 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, with some 900,000 of them registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
While most of them were already facing tough living conditions, their situation has been exacerbated by the worsening financial crisis in Lebanon and the global economic crunch.
