Maldives to relaunch international Quran competition
Al-Noorul Mubeen contest returns with broader participation and top prizes
MALE, Maldives (MNTV) — The Maldives’ Public Service Media (PSM) has announced the revival of the Al-Noorul Mubeen International Quran Competition, set to be a highlight of this year’s Ramadan programming.
The competition, which was last held in 2018, aims to attract wider global participation and offer the largest prize pool in its history.
The competition’s previous edition saw participants from 11 countries, including the Maldives. This year, organizers aim to expand its reach with the inclusion of an international panel of judges and enhanced prestige.
PSM Managing Director Ibrahim Nasreen revealed that the event will focus on celebrating Quran recitation and memorization while promoting Islamic values.
“We are committed to organizing a high-quality competition that brings together participants from across the Islamic world, with priority given to neighboring and Muslim-majority countries,” Nasreen said.
Collaborating with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the National Centre for the Holy Quran, PSM is in the final stages of planning the event.
Nasreen confirmed that preparations are expected to be completed by the end of Ramadan, setting the stage for a major international gathering.
With its return, the Al-Noorul Mubeen competition promises to become a cornerstone of religious programming in the Maldives, fostering global engagement and excellence in Quranic recitation.
