Fifteen local bookstores from Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Ipoh to participate in weeklong event
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (MNTV) — Malaysia’s vibrant independent bookstore scene is set to shine on the global stage as 15 local bookstores join the highly anticipated Global Book Crawl, a week-long celebration of indie bookshops and community-driven reading culture.
Scheduled from April 21-27, it is the country’s first participation in the global event.
The participating bookstores, hailing from Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, and Ipoh, include notable names such as Gerakbudaya, Tintabudi, Books For A Better World, and Kawah Buku.
This initiative is part of a larger movement that spans over 30 cities across six continents, empowering local communities through literature and supporting small bookstores in a fun, inclusive manner.
“We’re excited to not only showcase Malaysia’s thriving indie bookstore scene but also to unite Malaysians through a shared love of reading,” said Adrian Ung, CEO of Books For A Better World. “The Global Book Crawl is all about stories, creativity, and community – and we’re proud to carry that spirit into Malaysia,” he added.
This event promises to be a significant boost to Malaysia’s literary scene, highlighting the country’s rich cultural landscape and its growing community of book lovers.
