Malaysia-Brunei land border posts operate until midnight for Eid travel
MIRI, Malaysia (MNTV) — The operating hours at the land border posts between Malaysia and Brunei will be extended from 10pm to midnight until April 6, in connection with the upcoming Eidul Fitr, locally called Hari Raya, celebrations, Borneo Post reports.
According to Limbang Division Resident Yunus Tambi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam has agreed to extend the operating hours at the Ujung Jalan Control and Inspection Complex, Labu Temporary Control Post, Kuala Lurah Temporary Immigration Control Post, and Sungai Tujoh Immigration Control Post.
Other corresponding border posts involved are the ones at Mengkalap in Lawas, Pandaruan, Tedungan in Limbang, and Sungai Tujoh in Miri.
“I would like to advise travellers to practise care while driving to their respective destinations and to be patient when waiting for their turn to cross the border,” said Yunus.
Border crossings often spike throughout every festive season, particularly during Raya, due to the social and family ties between the people of Lawas, Miri and Limbang, and those of Brunei and Sabah.
