Los Angeles weighs funding former Israeli soldiers to patrol LA
The Los Angeles City Council is considering allocating public funds to a group staffed by former Israeli soldiers among others.
According to the Washington Post, as of February, some 23,380 American citizens were serving in the Israeli Army; 10,000 of them joined the fight after Oct 7, 2024.
Jewish Voice for Peace is opposing the move arguing that funding such groups may heighten tensions rather than enhance safety.
Critics question whether funding armed groups with hard-line stances is the best approach to community safety.
