Kyrgyzstan to introduce robotic surgery in near future
Top orthopedic expert hails Chinese advancements, says Kyrgyzstan ready to adopt surgical robotics
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (MNTV) — Kyrgyzstan is preparing to launch robotic-assisted surgeries in the near future, marking a significant step forward for the country’s healthcare system.
The announcement was made by Sabyrbek Zhumabekov, president of the Association of Traumatologists and Orthopedists of Kyrgyzstan.
In a post on social media, Zhumabekov, an academician and orthopedic surgeon, shared insights from his recent visit to China, where he closely observed the application of robotic technology in surgical procedures.
According to Kyrgyz national news agency, Zhumabekov expressed deep admiration for China’s rapid medical advancements, particularly in orthopedics and traumatology.
“I will not be mistaken if I say that Chinese medicine has reached the forefront in the world,” he wrote, noting that the scale and sophistication of technologies showcased at a medical exhibition were overwhelming.
“There are more than 100,000 orthopedic traumatologists in China, and medicine is developing rapidly. There are nine factories producing surgical robots in the country.”
The Kyrgyz delegation, Zhumabekov said, had the opportunity to witness robotic surgeries firsthand and even participate in some procedures. “We assessed both the advantages and limitations of this technology,” he added.
While emphasizing that the “human factor will remain in first place,” Zhumabekov acknowledged that robotic surgery represents a “requirement of the times.”
He confirmed that Kyrgyzstan will soon begin using surgical robots to assist with complex procedures.
The initiative is expected to enhance precision and efficiency in medical operations, potentially setting a precedent for broader adoption of advanced technologies across the Kyrgyz health sector.
