Killing, destruction in Gaza ‘must stop,’ Scottish leader says after ICJ ruling
LONDON (AA) – Scotland First Minister Humza Yousaf has said that the decision of the ICJ “is clear” that the killing and destruction in Gaza “must stop.”
Following the decision by ICJ to order Israel to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza, Yousaf said on X: “Urgent humanitarian assistance must be provided to prevent more suffering.
“Hostages must be released immediately. With such death and destruction, we will continue to call for an immediate ceasefire,” he added.
The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to take “all measures within its power” to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza, where it has killed more than 26,000 people since October 7, but fell short of calling for an immediate cease-fire.
South Africa, which brought the case, had asked the court for provisional measures against Israel.
