Kashmiri Muslim mathematician unveils India’s first high-tech solar car
Bilal Ahmad Dar introduces the revamped BISA Ray, an eco-friendly and affordable solar-powered vehicle
SRINAGAR (MNTV) — Kashmiri mathematician Bilal Ahmad Dar has unveiled the upgraded version of his solar-powered car, BISA Ray, featuring advanced technology, a sleek new design, and improved efficiency.
Dar, who is also the founder of Bilal’s Innovative Solar Automobile (BISA), has become a trailblazer in India’s eco-friendly automotive industry. He revealed that BISA will be Kashmir’s first and India’s only manufacturer of high-tech solar vehicles.
Dar, whose personal investment of 2.2 million Indian Rupees ($25,327) helped bring his dream project to life, sold part of his ancestral property to fund the venture.
His goal is to provide an affordable, sustainable alternative to traditional vehicles, pricing the BISA Ray under 1 million Indian Rupees ($12,000).
Vision for sustainable and affordable mobility
In an interview with ETV Bharat, Dar reflected on the inspiration behind his work, “From the very beginning, my focus was on creating an affordable, eco-friendly car. Now, when this car hits the roads on June 22, it will be priced below ₹1 million—making it not just budget-friendly, but also India’s first solar-powered car to hit the streets.
Dar first introduced his prototype in 2022, and the viral video sparked widespread attention. The newly unveiled version of the car takes the project to new heights, incorporating cutting-edge features.
The BISA Ray boasts a 5D solar panel system capable of generating 1 kilowatt of power, which charges the Battery Management System (BMS).
Dar assures that the car continues to charge even on cloudy days, ensuring consistent energy efficiency.
The vehicle’s compact chassis, patented by Dar, is one of its standout features, along with two additional patents for safety and solar utility. The car also carries a design patent that has been internationally published nine times.
Among the highlights are the wing-style doors, which lend the car a futuristic appearance. The BISA Ray’s solar panels are strategically placed on the front, back, and top, maximizing energy absorption for optimal performance.
With the BISA Ray, Bilal Ahmad Dar is not only driving India’s transition to eco-friendly mobility but also setting a new standard for solar-powered transportation across the nation.
