Justice For All Condemn Indian Court Ruling To Maintain Hijab Ban In Schools
Justice for all, the largest human rights organization led by american muslims, and the council on american-islamic relations or CAIR, today condemned India’s Karnataka high court ruling that hijab is not an essential part of islam.
Since January, muslim girls in the southern indian state have not been allowed in school wearing a hijab.
There are over 200 million Muslims in India, many of whom observe wearing a headscarf as a part of their faith.
The Pew research center has found 60% of hindu women also cover their head.
Justice for All’s Save India campaign said this is the latest chapter in the country’s utter disregard for religious freedom.
