Judge fines Trump, warns of jail for future violations
Judge Juan Merchan has fined Donald Trump $9,000 for breaching a gag order during his trial on charges of falsifying business records.
The judge admonished Trump for repeated violations, ordering him to remove eight social media posts and pay $1,000 for each offense.
Merchan’s decision highlighted Trump’s social media commentary on trial witnesses and jurors, warning of potential jail time for further breaches.
Trump faces 34 felony charges related to alleged hush money payments during the 2016 election and a total of 88 federal and state felonies.
This includes attempts to overturn the 2020 election results and mishandling classified information.
