Jordan Armed Forces: Beyond borders to play role in society
Military-led initiatives drive inclusive growth, infrastructure, and food security across underserved communities
AMMAN, Jordan (MNTV) — The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) has established 45 schools to address educational gaps in remote communities in the country.
These schools have helped eliminate barriers to education for children in underprivileged areas, playing a vital role in fostering social equity.
In the health sector, the Royal Medical Services Directorate operates 20 medical centres and mobile hospitals, providing essential care in regions with limited healthcare access.
Additionally, the JAF has extended direct support to vulnerable families through material aid and housing assistance, reinforcing community stability and social welfare.
JAF’s Royal Engineering Corps has played a fundamental role in infrastructure development across rural Jordan, building roads, water systems and developing electricity and communications.
In 2024 alone, the JAF constructed 10 dams and water catchments in border areas, directly addressing water scarcity while supporting agricultural and domestic needs.
Under directives from King Abdullah II, the JAF has spearheaded agricultural development initiatives in strategic areas such as Baqoura and Ghamr.
In Ghamr, the army launched a five-phase land reclamation project covering 14,000 dunums, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and creating job opportunities.
In light of global supply chain disruptions and rising concerns over food sustainability, the JAF has positioned itself as a key player in advancing Jordan’s agricultural resilience.
By applying advanced farming techniques and water-saving technologies, the army has improved productivity in water-scarce areas while preserving vital natural resources.
As Jordan navigates a complex landscape, the JAF stands as a model of innovation, service, and national unity—demonstrating how a modern armed force can lead not only in security, but in shaping a prosperous future for all Jordanians.
