Jewish lawyer in Brooklyn charged with arson in Columbia University protest
A Jewish lawyer in Brooklyn, New York is facing arson and criminal mischief charges.
This is after James Carlson allegedly burned an Israeli flag during protests at Columbia University last spring.
The demonstrations protesting Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza have led to multiple arrests at various New York City campuses.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced the charges against Carlson, saying that his actions went beyond peaceful protest, and that such unlawful behavior will not be tolerated.
Carlson has also been accused of breaking into a university building and destroying a camera while in custody.
He is the ninth person indicted in connection to the protests.
