Israel’s devastating campaign reduces Lebanese villages to rubble
Israeli demolition teams are systematically razing entire villages in southern Lebanon as part of a brutal offensive that has claimed over 3,000 lives in the past 13 months.
Reports and satellite imagery reveal that nearly a quarter of all buildings in 25 municipalities have been destroyed or damaged, leaving communities in ruins.
Mayor Abdulmonem Choukeir of Meiss al-Jabal lamented the loss of centuries-old homes, saying, “Who knows what will still be standing at the end?”
Footage shared online shows a series of controlled explosions flattening towns, with villages like Ayta al-Shab transformed into clouds of dust and debris.
Videos also depict Israeli troops celebrating the destruction of significant cultural sites, a stark violation of international law, which protects religious and historical buildings.
Satellite imagery from Kfar Kila shows freshly turned soil where olive groves once stood, suggesting a clearance operation by Israeli forces.
Dozens of crushed buildings line the town’s main road. The destruction is most intense near the Israeli border.
The village centers in nearby Ayta al-Shab, Mhaibib and Ramyeh have also been decimated, the imagery reveals.
The Israel Defense Forces claim they are targeting areas used by Hezbollah, but the destruction has indiscriminately displaced over 1.2 million residents.
Legal experts assert that such tactics constitute war crimes.
As the humanitarian crisis deepens, the world watches in horror at the ongoing devastation.
