Israeli military bases invaded by far right ministers
Hundreds of right-wing politicians, including ministers, broke into two military bases in southern and central Israel.
They were protesting the arrest of nine soldiers accused of sexually abusing a Palestinian detainee at Sde Teiman Prison in the Negev desert.
Videos circulated on social media showed ministers and members of the Knesset storming the Sde Teiman facility followed by right-wing activists violently storming the Beit Lid military base shortly after.
One Israeli leader accused Internal Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir of “preparing a rebellion” in the Israeli military and anarchy.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for restraint but did not promptly hold those responsible for the base breaches accountable.
