Israeli forces kill Palestinian man, injure 16 in occupied West Bank raid
JENIN CITY, Palestine (AA) – Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian man and injured 16 more people in a massive military raid in the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin on Tuesday.
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the deceased as Mohammad Musa Saabaneh, 29, according to the official Wafa news agency.
The Israeli military raided Jenin to demolish an apartment belonging to the family of Raad Hazem, who was shot dead by Israeli police in April this year. He was accused of killing three people in a gun attack in Tel Aviv.
Israeli security personnel closed off roads, got the building of 29 apartments vacated, and blew up Hazem’s flat, Wafa reported.
As clashes broke out in the area, Israeli forces fired live bullets at Palestinians, killing Saabaneh and injuring 16 others, including one person who is in critical condition.
Israeli forces raid Palestinian territories on an almost daily basis, mostly under the pretext of looking for wanted Palestinians.
Israel also regularly demolishes homes of Palestinians who carry out attacks on Israelis, a practice that rights groups and a UN rapporteur have criticized as “collective punishment.”
