Israeli Forces Assault Palestinian Worshippers At Al-Aqsa Mosque On Muslim Holy Day
Israeli soldiers attacked worshippers gathered to celebrate a Muslim holiday on Monday at Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
Fourteen Palestinians were wounded, including a child, and four were taken to a hospital for treatment, the Palestinian Crescent said.
Israeli soldiers also detained at least 20 Palestinians.
Al-Aqsa mosque is the third holiest site in Islam and the place from which Muslims believe Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven.
Palestinians were observing the Islamic festival of Al-Israa wal Mi’raaj when the attack happened.
Videos shared on social media showed Israeli forces throwing teargas and stun grenades into the crowd, which included many children and infants, sparking panic.
