Israeli army says 26 more soldiers injured in Gaza fighting
JERUSALEM (AA) – The Israeli army said Tuesday that 26 soldiers had been injured in the Gaza Strip in 24 hours.
Figures released by the military showed that at least 557 soldiers have been killed and 2,797 others injured since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict on Oct. 7.
Israel has killed at least 26,751 people and injured 65,636 others in a deadly offensive on the Palestinian enclave since a surprise attack by Hamas on Oct. 7. Israeli authorities say 1,140 Israelis died in the Hamas attack.
Last week, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) found South Africa’s claim that Israel is committing genocide plausible. The court issued an interim order urging Israel to stop obstructing aid deliveries into Gaza and to improve the humanitarian situation.
The Israeli offensive has left 85% of Gaza’s population internally displaced amid acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
