Israeli army leaves destruction in Tulkarem refugee camp in West Bank
Palestinians carried out debris removal efforts in the aftermath of an Israeli attack on the Tulkarem Refugee Camp in the north of the occupied West Bank.
The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society said the raids targeted several towns in the occupied territory, including East Jerusalem, Tulkarem, and Ramallah.
The detainees included a former prisoner, who was released two days ago.
The new arrests brought the number of Palestinians detained by the Israeli army in the West Bank since October 2023 to more than 11,600.
This includes those who were released after being arrested, according to Palestinian figures.
That does not include those arrested from Gaza, who are estimated to be in the thousands.
Over the past few years, the Israeli military has conducted regular raids in the West Bank, which escalated with the start of the war on Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023.
Palestinians also have been violently attacked by illegal Israeli settlers.
At least 777 Palestinians have since been killed and more than 6,300 others injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, according to the Ministry of Health.
The escalation follows a landmark opinion in July by the International Court of Justice which declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land “illegal” .
It also demanded the evacuation of all existing settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
