Israeli army kills 2 Palestinians near Hebron city
HEBRON CITY, Palestine (AA) – The Israeli army killed two Palestinians on Friday, claiming that its forces had retaliated after the attackers targeted them near Hebron city, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli army claimed in a statement that two Palestinians approached an Israeli military checkpoint and started shooting at the soldiers.
The military responded to the fire and killed them, it said, adding that the Israeli soldiers at the checkpoint were unharmed.
Tensions have been high across the West Bank since the fighting broke out on Oct. 7 between Palestinian groups and Israel in Gaza.
More than 200 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli forces in the West Bank since Oct. 7 in addition to over 2,700 others injured, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
