Israel returns body of Egyptian guard suspected of killing 3 soldiers
JERUSALEM (AA): Israel has handed over the body of an Egyptian border guard suspected of killing three Israeli soldiers last week.
Israeli i24 News television channel reported the news without providing any further details.
There was no confirmation yet from Egypt of the report.
Israeli public broadcaster KAN, meanwhile, identified the Egyptian guard as Mohamed Salah, 22, from Cairo and shared his photo.
On Saturday, the Israeli army had reported that two soldiers were killed at a military post near the border with Egypt. A third soldier was killed during a manhunt.
The Egyptian army said a border security guard was killed after crossing the border while chasing drug smugglers. However, the Israeli army claimed the attacker was an Egyptian officer, “troops and commanders engaged and shot and killed him.”
