Israel kills 82 Palestinians, injures 234 in 24 hours
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed 82 Palestinians and injured 234 in the past 24 hours, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The strikes targeted residential areas including a house and a school in the Nuseirat refugee camp, killing 20 people.
A house accommodating nearly 100 Palestinians collapsed due to bombing.
Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal says its teams have so far recovered eight bodies and rescued dozens of others, mostly women and children.
Defying the U.S., Israeli tanks on Tuesday forged deeper into eastern Rafah, reaching some residential districts.
More than a million people had been sheltering in the area after being displaced in seven months of Israeli bombardment.
The Israeli military says it has also expanded activity in Jabalia refugee camp and carried out more than 100 air raids across Gaza in the last 24 hours.
