Israel kills 40 Palestinians in airstrikes, humanitarian crisis deepens
At least 40 Palestinians were killed and 98 injured on Friday as Israeli airstrikes continued to target Gaza.
A strike on a house in the Sabra neighbourhood near Gaza City killed two people and injured several others, Al Jazeera Arabic reported.
In central Gaza, 15 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a home sheltering people in the western Nuseirat refugee camp, a medical source told Anadolu.
The attacks followed Thursday’s deadly assault on a post office in central Gaza, where 66 Palestinians, including 30 sheltering inside, were killed and 50 others wounded.
In retaliation, Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades launched a barrage of mortar shells at Israeli forces in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
Israel has killed more than 44,875 Palestinians, and injured more than 106,454 in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.
On Nov. 21, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
