Israel intercepts missile from Lebanon, strikes Hezbollah positions
JERUSALEM (AA) – The Israeli army has said that it intercepted a surface-to-air missile fired from Lebanon that was headed for a military drone.
A statement said the missile was shot down by air defenses before crossing into Israeli airspace.
It said it attacked positions belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon in response to the missile attack.
Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel with intermittent exchange of fire between Israeli forces and the Lebanese group in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
