Israel destroyed more than 600 mosques in Gaza
Israeli military attacks on Gaza have destroyed 610 mosques, with another 214 partially damaged, according to the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Gaza.
The assaults have reduced places of worship and surrounding structures in various parts of the enclave to rubble and ashes.
In January, a BBC investigation found that Israel had destroyed or damaged 72 mosques and two churches.
This includes one of the worlds’ oldest churches, St Porphyrius.
Israel has also largely destroyed Omari mosque, Gaza’s oldest, which was built in the seventh century.
In a statement, it said it holds Israel and its supporters, especially the United States, fully responsible for the policy of targeting mosques and places of worship.
It is also calling on countries of the free world, international organizations, and Islamic institutions to intervene immediately and urgently to stop the genocidal war in Gaza.
