Muslim world divided over Palestinian issue, says leading Islamic scholar
International Union for Muslim Scholars head Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi has highlighted the fragmentation within the Islamic world regarding the Palestinian crisis.
He said the Muslim community has splintered into three factions: the silent majority, those supporting Israel, and a small group backing Palestine, including Turkiye, Qatar, and Malaysia.
Marking one year since Israel’s war on Gaza began, Al-Qaradaghi condemned the ongoing atrocities with daily casualties reported.
He criticized the inaction of more than 50 Muslim countries, urging unity to address the suffering of Palestinians.
Al-Qaradaghi praised Turkiye’s efforts but lamented the isolation felt due to the lack of collective Muslim action.
He called for leaders to step up and end the oppression, emphasizing the urgent need for a unified front in the face of continuing violence and devastation in Gaza.
