Islamic scholars demand equal education for girls
Islamic scholars have declared that blocking girls’ education reflects societal bias and contradicts Islamic teachings.
The announcement came during the International Conference on Girls’ Education in Muslim Comunities, held in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.
A nine-page “Islamabad Declaration” called on Muslims globally to ensure equal education for girls.
It condemns the misuse of religion to justify exclusion.
Attendees included Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai and representatives from various Muslim-majority nations.
Malala criticized Israel for bombing Gaza’s schools and destroying its education system.
She highlighted the devastating impact on Palestinian children’s lives and future.
She also raised concerns over Afghan women and girls, urging the Taliban to adopt policies aligned with Islam.
Malala appealed to Muslim leaders to support their rights and freedoms.
The declaration emphasized ending the misrepresentation of Islam and protecting women’s rights, urging immediate action for equality in education globally.
